‘Flegenheimer Bros’ patriotic wine trade card

$200.00

It is approx.4-5/8 inches wide X 3-1/8 inches high (11.9 cm. X 7.8 cm.). It is in excellent condition for it’s age–since from the design I suspect this card to be from about 1870, just after the Civil War; it has only a slightly rounded lower left corner and minor glue staining on the reverse. The edges are sharp, the image is wonderful, and this card is very rare and desirable for a color trade card from before the Centennial Exposition, which is when color came into it’s own on such inexpensive advertising pieces as trade cards!

Description

This is a great, early trade card for ‘Flegenheimer Bros.’ for wines and brandies showing a super patriotic color image of a woman holding a glass surrounded by bottles, casks, flags, grapes and a shield in the center with a tropical scene around her. At the bottom right is an interesting image of what appears to be a distillation apparatus and a brandy bottle!
