This pin is approx. 1-1/4 inches (3.3 cm) across, and has it’s backpaper (labeled Whitehead & Hoag, Newark, NJ–1896 pat. date) and pin in wonderful shape. The front image is fine, with no cracks or stains in the celluloid, the only thing I see is a small mark at the bottom where the pin protrudes past the edge of the celluloid rim that looks like rust–but it is not. This is very early and nice for a company that liked to use such celluloid give-aways to advertise their product!
This is a wonderful celluloid pinback for the ‘Worcester Salt’ company out of New York that has a great image of a large burlap bag labeled ‘Worcester Salt’ and says underneath that ‘The Standard For Quality’, but the really nice part is the long steam train with belching smokestack in the background!
